In the United States, more than 34 million suffer from diabetes, according to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC). As many as 90 to 95 percent are type 2 diabetes which typically occurs in adults over the age of 45 but in recent years the numbers of teens and children have displayed a noticeable increase. Interestingly, the centuries-old herbal supplement kratom is offering some hope in coping with the often-life-threatening chronic health disorder. Kratom and diabetes might seem like a new concept but in Southeast Asia, many have used the ancient herb to treat a wide array of conditions.
What is Diabetes?
Many diabetics have to use insulin
Diabetes is classified as a chronic health condition that influences how your body utilizes food for energy. When you eat, your body breaks down the sugar (glucose) in the food and then releases it directly into your bloodstream. If your body pumps too much sugar into your bloodstream then your pancreas works to release insulin to create balance. The insulin also helps your body’s cells use the sugar effectively as energy.
Diabetics either do not produce enough insulin or their body is incapable of using the insulin that they manufacture. If there is not enough insulin or your body’s cells stop using the insulin then the blood sugar increases and can cause heart disease, kidney disease, and vision loss.
Sadly, there is no cure for diabetes You can eat healthily and try to lose weight to slow type 2 diabetes or you will be forced to take insulin injections.
Types of Diabetes
You will encounter several types of diabetes:
- Type 1 Diabetes: With type 1 diabetes, you require daily insulin to remain alive because your body does not produce it. This form of diabetes occurs in children and becomes a lifelong condition.
- Type 2 Diabetes: Type 2 diabetes tends to occur during middle life and is the result of your body’s’ inability to correctly produce or utilize insulin. This is the most common form of diabetes and is preventable with lifestyle changes.
- Gestational Diabetes: During pregnancy, gestational diabetes can occur and is usually considered a risk factor for type 2 diabetes. This form of diabetes is dangerous during pregnancy, but it does go away after delivery.
- Cystic fibrosis-related diabetes: This form of diabetes occurs because of cystic fibroids.
- Monogenic Diabetes: This form of diabetes occurs due to genetics.
- Prediabetes: In the U.S., as many as 88 million (one in three) have what is termed ‘prediabetes’. Sadly, in cases, they do not even realize that they are on the road to type 2 diabetes. However, with certain lifestyle changes, prediabetes is reversible according to the CDC.
Managing Kratom and Diabetes
Diabetic sufferers face a lifetime of disease management. Coping with the condition is often exhausting and frustrating. In addition, sufferers often experience bouts of pain and heightened anxiety. Your body also reacts to stress by releasing more sugar into the blood which only compounds the problem substantially. Trying to relax and find a happy medium becomes exceedingly difficult for many.
Kratom serves several purposes when dealing with diabetes. One of the best ways that you can manage diabetes is to alleviate stress so your body can better cope with its sugar levels. Kratom and diabetes are not a conventional combination, but many are reporting success. The herb appears to ease pain and lower stress levels which have a positive impact on your blood glucose levels.
Kratom and Diabetes: The Food Cravings
Food cravings are common with kratom
Diabetics often suffer endless food cravings. Many succumb to their bodies ’ desires which only makes the body’s diabetic reaction more severe and dangerous. However, kratom appears to ease the food cravings so a diabetic does not feel the overwhelming need to consume an excessive amount of unpleasant food.
Constant Hunger with Diabetes
Sadly, diabetes is firmly rooted in obesity but once a person starts to develop diabetes than their food cravings substantially increase. Many people never feel satisfied and are constantly hungry. However, unhealthy eating only increases your body’s glucose levels.
High blood glucose levels are extremely dangerous and can lead to death if left untreated. Kratom and diabetes control is not difficult. The kratom will reduce your food cravings so your blood glucose does not continue to spike. You will start to lose weight and be able to control your blood more effectively. Also, as you cut down on your food intake, the kratom will prevent your glucose level from dipping too low. Basically, the kratom creates a balance in your system.
Pain and Kratom
As mentioned, kratom is known to help some people cope with pain. Many diabetic sufferers develop what is referred to as diabetic neuropathy which is a form of nerve pain. There are four types of neuropathy pain but with diabetes, the pins and needles pain are the most common.
The sensation of pins and needles occurs because of the nerve damage caused by diabetes. The discomfort usually takes place in the hands and feet and is accompanied by bouts of weakness and numbness in the extremities. The discomfort makes it hard to sleep or even genuinely enjoy life. Thankfully, when researching kratom and diabetes, many sufferers decide to try the herb for the pain and are pleasantly surprised at the relief that they obtain.
What is Kratom?
In the United States, kratom remains relatively unknown. The herb is legal in all 50 states. You will find it being offered by online retailers, in smoke shops, dispensaries, and even some health food outlets. In the last couple of years, it has risen in popularity. However, for centuries, kratom has been common throughout much of Southeast Asia such as Indonesia, Bali, Papua New Guinea, Malaysia, Thailand, and Vietnam for medicinal purposes.
Locals regularly chew the leaves of the tropical tree Mitragyna speciosa. They also brew tea that they drink in the evenings or at social events. In recent years, the export of kratom to the United States has become exceedingly popular and the trees are being widely cultivated to meet the herbal supplement market’s demand.
Kratom and Stress
A diagnosis of diabetes causes a considerable amount of stress. When you ingest kratom you enter an almost euphoric state that helps you better cope with stress. It is almost like sinking into a hot bubble bath as it washes over your body. Stress causes the diabetes condition to worsen and may even lead to fatal consequences so finding relief from the almost constant fear and worry is becomes a very peaceful respite. Once your body relaxes, you can probably achieve restful and rejuvenating sleep. Many people enjoy taking kratom in the evening after an especially stressful day.
Kratom Lowers Blood Pressure
High blood pressure is common with diabetics
The diagnosis of diabetes and high blood pressure often go together. Sadly, if you are diagnosed with the combination of diabetes and high blood pressure then you are at extreme risk of developing other diabetic-related health problems. Kratom use appears to lower blood pressure without any dangerous dip. Instead, your hypertension becomes more manageable which might ultimately help prevent cardiovascular diseases too.

Diabetest causes so many things and issues when it comes to our health My son has juvenile diabetes and I am researching how to incorporate kratom into his diet. He is on an exercise program also encouraged by his dr. but if there are other ways to help beat this disease such as mentioned this is also good news. What would you recommend being the best strain to start with?
My grandmother died of diabetes when she was barely 60, so I have been very aware of not eating too much sugar or refined foods, to try and prevent developing Type 2 diabetes. To find that kratom can be used to control things like food cravings and constant hunger, high blood pressure, stress and pain, is very reassuring to know.
I would certainly prefer to use a natural herb for managing diabetes if I did have it. This is a great read.
Kratom can be taken in capsule form or either in powdered form, which is mixed in water. They have got different strains of kratom, some give you more strength and some are makes you calm and sleepy. some friends i have always makes use kratom for anxiety, sore muscles, and to help them sleep. It’s really something you have got to try out with and to know if its what’s right for you.
I am no stranger to diabetes. My father has a type 1 diabetes, which I am more likely to have it now it hasn’t show thank god, while my aunt has type 2 which is mostly about the diet and lifestyle really. I had no idea that Kratom can be use asa a coping method for diabetes and can help curbing with cravings. That is amazing. I have to say that I prefer natural remedies over the pharmaceutical drugs any day.
I am a doctor by profession and I know very well about diabetes and how many problems people have who suffer from it for many years. The causes of diabetes can be numerous, and there are always those that have not been determined. The therapy currently in use is showing success in patients but there is no drug that can lead to a cure. I like hearing that it can have some effect in short and I hope it will be examined in more detail.
Thank you for the informative article. The first paragraph though got to me ’34 million people suffering form diabetes, with the noticeable increase from kids and teens’ This is a serious point of concern. Its comforting though to note that Kratom brings hope diabetes sufferers.
I hope that pre diabetes especially come across your article, because prevention is better than cure .
I can only imagine the pain and anguish diabetic patients experience, and to imagine that it doesn’t have a cure, but one can only manage it. I’m guessing this requires a lot of discipline in following all the doctor’s recommendations. A good diet and an exercise routine seem to be the only way to ease the pain and other issues brought by the disease. And now with herbs like kratom, diabetic patients can get some relief. Thanks for sharing this helpful information.
Kratom appears to have many benefits, especially to those people with Diabetes. Anything that has the potential to make life better for people with diabetes has to be worth checking out (after checking with your physician first of course).
I think stopping food cravings is key if you are going to make progress with improving diabetes, so if this product can do that then it will definitely help.
Herbs I believe have a major role in controlling a lot of health conditions that blight our wellbeing, it’s a pity there isn’t more scientific research going into some of them that show a lot of promise.
I have been suffering from type 1 diabetes for the last 18 years and let me tell you, this is one of the hardest roads anyone could ever walk. So far, I have stage 2 CKD which is kidney failure, retinopathy and diabetes has even managed to mess up my intestines. It’s hard to balance diabetes when you have several mental illnesses and on top of that the recovery from having an eating disorder. It’s truly overwhelming. I have never heard of this herb being an alternative product for diabetes. I’m really interested but your main focus was people with type 2 diabetes. Does that mean that it is not as effective on those of us who struggle with type 1?
Hi, this is a good article on kratom and diabetes. Kratom serves interesting purposes when dealing with diabetes. Kratom and diabetes are not a conventional combination, but it seems to work. The herb does ease pain and lower stress levels which have a positive impact on the body. The herb is legal and some doctors have started prescribing it.
I think this is great information for me, as I have family members who are diabetic. Let me suggest this remedy to them and see.
Thanks for the information.
It’s very true that diabetes increases the level of food cravings which makes the condition rather worse and severe, it’s good to be aware of these things as they are essential to our health. I think kratom is gonna help in a way or two reading through this post, but it won’t actually benefit everyone cos of some countries that are not allowing it.
It seems to me that kratom seems to work for a number of wide range of body issues that it is very hard to tell why people have not opened their eyes to this product up till today. It’s a good one that is worth it and now seeing that diabetes bows to kratom is another good reason why people should really get a rush on it.
8 have read some of your articles on Kratom and it’s always impressionable to learn about various new uses that can be applied as it shows how dynamic and effective Kratom is. I think it’s great that Kratom can be used to help abate diabetes but I’m interested in knowing if can be used as an alternative to insulin or if it works hand in hand with it.
The effects of Kratom can not be overlooked or overemphasized. Seeing how efficient it could be when attempting to combat diabetes and limit its effect on the body in whole too is making sense andi will tey to share this information out to social media groups of diabetics that I belong to. Thanks
Hello there, diabetes is something we can’t rule out of the life of so many of us and I have to say it’s really nice to see some naturally made products that can help with it because using some of the drugs out there can cause side effects and I really don’t like it at all. I will see to the use off this krantom
This is a disease that causes so many things or issues when it comes to the health of persons. When it comes to bringing this disease under control or to avoid it things such as diet and exercise are encouraged but if there are other ways to help beat this disease such as mentioned this is also good news. But again diet and exercise are so important in staying fit and healthy.
I can see that if Kratom has this effect on diabetes it could be extremely beneficial to [eo[;e with type two diabetes. Those who use oral medication and diet to manage their sugar levels will find this very useful. There is also the advantage that Kratom is a natural alternative for diabetics.
Interesting article. The human body is so complex. A lot goes on during simple tasks such as eating. I really wish there was a cure for diabetes. It runs in my family and I’ll probably get it when I’m older. After reading the article I realized that I’ll most likely be getting type 2 diabetes, since that one occurs later in life. Kratom sounds like it helps out a lot with diabetes. I’ll keep this in mind if there ever is a day that I get diabetes. Thanks for this useful information!
Reading does a lot for good to you than you can ever imagine, when you read you tend to discover new things just like that of kratom and diabetes, I’ve read about a lot of people who have been ripped off their money because of fake products, I think kratom will be very helpful medication to talk about.
Anything that can help ease the food craving in a natural in healthy manner is worth our attention. We live in an age where it’s so easy to get overdoses of sugar. And we’re fully responsible but most of the time we don’t know about these practical solutions as kratom. Although diabetes can’t be cured, people suffering it can live long lives if they manage to switch to a healthier path.
This is good stuff. I mean to see that it actually works real good for diabetes. I didn’t know this up till now even though I have already ordered for my own bottle of the kratom. This is very good and I am glad because I want to share this with so e of my friends who have type 2 diabetes
